Ramallah - 9/3/2024: The Customs Police Department dealt with 295 cases during the past month of August in cooperation with the civil partner agencies and the competent security agencies, within the framework of combating the phenomenon of smuggling in all its forms and protecting the national economy.
In the details of the cases:
155 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance to improve state revenues and provide the treasury with funds, detailed as follows:
- 101 tax and customs cases were seized and taxpayers were transferred to the ministry to complete their commercial transactions.
- 25 cases of goods coming from Israel were seized without a clearing invoice.
- 29 cases were seized in the field of smuggled tobacco that is prohibited from circulation due to its economic damage and drain on the state treasury.
Dealing with 78 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy to prevent the spread of spoiled and counterfeit goods and settlement goods, as detailed below:
- Approximately 2.9 tons of expired materials were seized and destroyed
- 6.3 tons (of food supplies, cosmetics and cosmetics) were seized that did not carry an identification card in Arabic and materials that violated mandatory technical instructions.
In the same context, 46 cases were dealt with in cooperation with the Ministry of Health to provide food and health security:
- During which, more than 7.6 tons of expired materials were seized and, based on the decision of the competent authorities, they were destroyed.
- Seizing [6731 kg and 17973 strips] of sexual stimulants and nutritional supplements, which are prohibited from circulation and do not have licenses) and handing them over to the competent authorities.
11 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and in support of the agricultural sector and encouraging local products, including:
- 5 cases of agricultural products that do not have agricultural permits or import permits or are banned from trading by a decision of the Minister of Agriculture.
- 6 cases of animal products that do not have agricultural permits or import permits or are banned from trading by a decision of the Minister of Agriculture.
4 cases of communications violating the law in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy:
- During which 101 postal parcels banned from trading were seized.
- 53 postal parcels that did not have licenses from the Ministry of Communications were seized and the seized items were handed over to the Ministry pending completion of legal procedures.
One case in cooperation with the Environmental Quality Authority during which:
- 17 tons of soil coming from Israel were seized, which is in violation of Palestinian regulations and laws and was returned to its source.
