The Customs Police Department seized 23 tons of materials unfit for human consumption in cooperation with partner agencies during last October

Ramallah_ 11/5/2024: The Customs Police Department dealt with 243 cases during last October in cooperation with partner civil agencies and the competent security agencies, based on the directives of the political level and under the supervision and follow-up of the Commander of the Department, Major General Iyad Barakat, within the framework of combating the phenomenon of smuggling in all its forms and protecting the national economy.
The cases were distributed between tax and customs cases, in addition to cases related to the economic, health, agricultural, public safety, communications and digital economy fields, as follows:
118 cases were seized in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance to improve state revenues and provide the treasury with funds, as detailed as follows:
- Seizing 79 tax and customs cases and transferring taxpayers to the ministry to complete their commercial transactions.
- Seizing 22 cases of goods coming from Israel that do not carry a clearing invoice.
- 17 cases were seized in the field of smuggled and banned tobacco due to its economic damage and its drain on the state treasury.

Dealing with 74 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of National Economy to prevent the spread of illegal goods and settlement goods, which are detailed as follows:
- Seizing approximately 20 tons of expired and unfit for consumption goods and handing them over to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal action.
- Seizing 292 kg of cosmetics and food supplies that do not carry an identification card in Arabic and materials that do not meet specifications and standards.
In the same context, 35 cases were dealt with in cooperation with the Ministry of Health to provide food and health security, during which the following were seized:
- Seizing more than 3 tons of expired goods and based on the decision of the competent authorities, they were destroyed.
- Seizing about 3 kg and 4435 strips of sexual stimulants and food supplements banned from circulation, and handed over to the competent authorities
10 cases were seized in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and in support of the agricultural sector and encouraging local products, including:
- Seizing 5 cases of agricultural products that do not carry agricultural permits or import permits or are banned from circulation by a decision of the Minister of Agriculture.
- Seizing 5 cases of animal products that do not carry agricultural permits or import permits or are banned from circulation by a decision of the Minister of Agriculture.
Seizing 6 cases of communications violating the law in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy:
- ​​During which 167 mobile devices and 11 postal parcels were seized that did not have the necessary licenses from the Ministry of Communications, in addition to seizing 41 postal parcels that are prohibited from circulation except through the Palestinian Post and are banned from circulation. The seized items were handed over to the Ministry pending completion of legal procedures.
