Ramallah_12/4/2024: The Customs Police dealt with 272 cases during last November in cooperation with partner civil agencies and competent security agencies, within the framework of combating the phenomenon of smuggling in all its forms and protecting the national economy based on the directives of the political level and the follow-up of the Commander of the Agency, Major General Iyad Barakat.
The cases were distributed between tax and customs cases, in addition to cases related to the economic, health, agricultural, and public safety fields. In the details:
- 170 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance to improve state revenues and support the treasury with funds, as detailed as follows
- 103 tax and customs cases were seized and taxpayers were transferred to the ministry to complete their commercial transactions.
- 27 cases of goods coming from Israel were seized that did not carry a clearing invoice.
- 40 cases were seized in the field of smuggled tobacco that is prohibited from circulation due to its economic damage and drain on the state treasury.
62 cases were dealt with in cooperation with the Ministry of National Economy to prevent the spread of spoiled and counterfeit goods and settlement goods, as detailed below:
- 6.9 tons of food supplies and cosmetics were seized without a statement card and in violation of mandatory technical instructions
- Approximately 4 tons of expired food and cleaning materials were seized and destroyed
In the same context, 23 cases were dealt with in cooperation with the Ministry of Health to provide food and health security:
- During which, 12.4 tons of expired goods were seized and based on the decision of the competent authorities and were destroyed.
- (348 packages of sexual stimulants and 1776 packages of laughing gas and food supplements not licensed by the Ministry of Health) were seized and handed over to the competent authorities.
12 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and in support of the agricultural sector and encouraging local products, including:
- 8 cases of agricultural products were seized that do not carry agricultural permits or import permits or are prohibited from circulation by a decision of the Minister of Agriculture.
- 4 cases of animal products were seized that do not have agricultural permits or import permits or are prohibited from trading by a decision of the Minister of Agriculture.
4 cases of illegal communications in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy:
- 167 routers were seized that do not have licenses from the Ministry of Communications
- 22 Israeli packages and 4614 Israeli communications chips were seized for goods prohibited from trading except through the Palestinian Post. The seized items were handed over to the Ministry pending completion of legal procedures.
One case in cooperation with the Environmental Quality Authority:
- 32 empty plastic tanks were seized containing remnants of chemical materials prohibited from entering the territories of the State of Palestine, which is in violation of the regulations and laws in force in the State of Palestine. They were returned to their source.
