Ramallah - 10/12/2024 The Director of the Customs Police in Bethlehem Governorate, Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Karim Basaytah, and his accompanying delegation met today, Tuesday, with the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Palestine Ahliya University, Dr. Daoud Al-Zeir, in his office, where they discussed ways of cooperation between the Customs Police and the University.
This meeting came to emphasize the importance of integration between the various national institutions in supporting the national economy and protecting the consumer, by enhancing cooperation between the Customs Police and academic and media institutions. The meeting also reflects the Customs Police's keenness to build strategic partnerships that contribute to raising the level of community awareness about its role in combating smuggling, ensuring the stability of the local market and enhancing trust between citizens and official institutions.
In turn, Lieutenant Colonel Basaytah thanked Sheikh Al-Zeir for the warm reception, and conveyed the greetings of the Commander of the Customs Police, Major General Iyad Barakat.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Al-Zeir presented Lieutenant Colonel Basaytah with a copy of his book "The Judiciary in Palestine between Tribal Customs and Regular Law."
In another context, Lieutenant Colonel Basaita and the accompanying delegation met with the Editor-in-Chief of Ma'an News Agency, Dr. Nasser Al-Lahham, where they discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Customs Police and Ma'an Agency, focusing on developing mechanisms for monitoring markets, controlling smuggling, and documenting customs activities to ensure transparency. The importance of cooperation during the holiday periods to ensure price stability, protect consumers, and enhance the confidence of citizens and traders in the efforts of the Customs Police was also discussed.
