Ramallah - 12/15/2024 In light of the sensitive security situation in Jenin Governorate, the Commander of the Customs Police Department, Major General Iyad Barakat, conducted a field inspection tour of the Customs Police Directorate in Jenin Governorate today, Sunday, with the aim of monitoring the progress of work and enhancing efforts to confront current challenges.
The tour focused on the importance of direct communication with the members of the department at all ranks, especially in light of the escalating security incidents that cast their shadows on the region. During his visit, Major General Barakat praised the role of field workers who are making exceptional efforts to protect the national economy and combat smuggling in all its forms, despite the surrounding security risks.
Major General Barakat also stressed the importance of continuing to ensure the protection of the Palestinian market and confronting challenges related to the economic, food and health security of citizens. He stressed that the current circumstances require doubling efforts and working responsibly to protect the local economy and ensuring the organization of commercial movement in a way that contributes to supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people.
During his tour, Major General Iyad Barakat stressed the importance of strengthening partnership and full coordination with the security establishment in the governorate, as it is the main pillar to ensure stability and confront current security challenges. He also called for the need to take the utmost caution and vigilance when performing daily tasks, to ensure the safety of workers in the field and protect citizens, stressing that the current stage requires concerted efforts and working in a team spirit to confront any risks that threaten security and stability. Major General Barakat concluded his visit by stressing that the Customs Police Department will continue to work side by side with the competent authorities to confront any attempts aimed at destabilizing the governorate, expressing his confidence in the ability of the department to overcome these challenges with determination and efficiency.
