The Customs Control Authority develops a plan for the holy month to monitor markets in cooperation with partner agencies

2/23/2025: - With the approach of the holy month, the Customs Control Authority, in cooperation with the Ministry of National Economy - Consumer Protection Department - and the security and civil partner agencies, and in implementation of the instructions directed from the political level and with direct follow-up by the Commander of the Authority, Major General / Iyad Barakat, developed a plan to control markets during the holy month of Ramadan. The most prominent features of this plan are: -
- Increasing the number of control and inspection tours of markets and shops, and monitoring commercial movement between governorates.
- Tightening procedures at checkpoints erected at city entrances, in order to ensure the availability of basic commodities and ensure their safety and monitor their prices in a manner that is consistent with the circumstances of our people.
- In coordination with partners in the Public Safety Committee, control over food products will be strengthened and all sectors will be monitored to ensure a safe and clean market throughout the holy month.
- The Authority and the competent authorities are working to raise awareness among consumers in cooperation with the Ministries of Education and Endowments and Religious Affairs to warn against exploiting the holy month in attempts to introduce illegal goods or monopolize and raise prices, and the importance of supporting the national product at the same time.
The Authority will take legal measures against anyone caught violating the instructions, calling on all merchants to adhere to the necessary standards and conditions in providing and displaying goods, in a manner that guarantees the rights of consumers during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Customs Police Authority and the competent authorities reassure our fellow citizens that basic goods are available and in line with the needs of the market, especially during the holy month, calling on citizens not to rush to buy them, especially in the first week of the holy month, and to report violations via the toll-free number 132 or through the Authority's social media sites.
The Customs Police Authority, represented by its Commander, Major General Iyad Barakat, and all the officers and non-commissioned officers of the Authority, extends its warmest congratulations and blessings to the Palestinian people on the occasion of the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
We ask God to bring it back to us and to you with goodness, blessings and prosperity, and for it to be a month of mercy and security, in which peace and stability prevail in our beloved country.
