Customs Police Handles 390 Cases in Cooperation with Partner Authorities During April

Ramallah_8/5/2025: During April, the Customs Police Department handled 390 cases in cooperation with civil partners and relevant security agencies, seizing 34.5 tons of expired goods. This comes as part of its efforts to protect markets from the spread of spoiled, smuggled, and settlement goods, and to protect the national economy.
In detail:
264 cases were handled in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance to improve state revenues and support the treasury, detailed as follows:
- 106 tax and customs cases were seized, and taxpayers were referred to the Ministry to complete their commercial transactions.
- 8 cases were seized involving goods arriving from Israel that did not carry a clearing invoice.
- 150 cases were seized related to smuggled tobacco, which is prohibited from circulation due to its economic damage and drain on the state treasury.
113 cases were investigated in cooperation with the Ministries of Economy and Health to prevent the spread of spoiled, counterfeit, and settlement goods, and to ensure health security. These cases include:
- Approximately 34.5 tons of expired food and supplies were seized and destroyed.
- 10.7 tons of food supplies, cosmetics, and beauty products were seized without a label and in violation of mandatory technical instructions. These products were handed over to the relevant authorities.
- 1,200 kg of forged iron, prohibited settlement goods, were seized.
- 406 packages (approximately 6 kg) of prohibited sexual stimulants and nutritional supplements were seized and handed over to the relevant authorities.
- 108 packages of counterfeit pesticides and (32.4 + 76 packed boxes + 231 empty boxes) unlicensed medical and cosmetic products were seized, without a label, and were referred to the relevant authorities.
- 86 pieces and 4.5 boxes of beads and fireworks banned from circulation in the Palestinian market were seized.
9 cases were investigated in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, in support of the agricultural sector and the promotion of local production. These cases include:
- 7 cases of agricultural products and 2 cases of animal products without agricultural permits or veterinary certificates, or products banned by a decision of the Minister of Agriculture.
3 cases were investigated in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, during which:
- 32 unlicensed postal parcels were seized and handed over to the relevant authorities.
In one case, in cooperation with the Environmental Quality Authority, the following were seized:
- 150 car tires imported from Israel in violation of applicable Palestinian regulations and laws. These tires were returned to their source.
The Customs Department calls on citizens to contribute by submitting reports of spoiled and expired goods via the department's toll-free hotline 132 or via the department's official Facebook page.
