Ramallah_3/6/2025: During May, the Customs Police Department handled 258 cases in cooperation with partner civil authorities and relevant security agencies, seizing approximately 28 tons of expired goods. This comes as part of its efforts to protect markets from the spread of spoiled, smuggled, and settlement goods, and to protect the national economy.
In detail:
155 cases were handled in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance to improve state revenues and replenish the treasury, detailed as follows:
- 81 tax and customs cases were seized, and taxpayers were referred to the Ministry to complete their commercial transactions.
- 9 cases were seized involving goods arriving from Israel that did not carry a clearing invoice.
- 65 cases were seized involving smuggled tobacco, which is prohibited from circulation due to its economic impact and drain on the state treasury.
80 cases were investigated in cooperation with the Ministries of Economy and Health to prevent the spread of spoiled, counterfeit, and settlement goods, and to ensure health security. These include:
- Approximately 28 tons of expired food, supplies, and cleaning supplies were seized and destroyed.
- Nearly half a ton of food supplies, cosmetics, and pesticides were seized without a label and in violation of mandatory technical instructions. These supplies were handed over to the relevant authorities.
- Approximately 21 tons of counterfeit cleaning supplies were seized and handed over to the relevant authorities.
- 8,675 packages and approximately 93 kg of banned sexual stimulants and nutritional supplements were seized, unlicensed, and handed over to the relevant authorities.
- 79 pieces of beaded toys and 5 kg of beads were seized, all banned from circulation in the Palestinian market. 14 cases were investigated in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, in support of the agricultural sector and the promotion of local production. These include:
- 10 cases of agricultural products and 4 cases of animal products without agricultural permits, veterinary certificates, or prohibited by a decision of the Minister of Agriculture.
9 cases were investigated in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, during which:
- 181 postal parcels, 252 Israeli SIM cards, and 53 prohibited and unlicensed mobile devices were seized. These devices were handed over to the relevant authorities.
