Transportation and Customs: A Renewed Partnership to Enhance Security and Serve the Nation

Ramallah – September 1, 2025 - The Commander of the Customs Police, Major General Iyad Barakat, and his accompanying delegation met with His Excellency the Minister of Transportation, Eng. Tariq Zourob, today, Monday, at the Ministry's headquarters in Ramallah and Al-Bireh. The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Mr. Mohammad Hamdan, and a delegation from the Ministry.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Minister Zourob welcomed the delegation, praising the ongoing cooperation between the two sides and emphasizing the importance of strengthening partnerships and integrating efforts between public institutions to serve the national interest.
During the meeting, Minister Zourob reviewed the Ministry of Transportation's most notable achievements, most notably the automation of services and facilitating citizens' access to them through the "My Government" and "e-SADAD" applications. This enhances the transparency of procedures, facilitates transactions, and saves citizens time and effort.
The meeting also addressed the aggression and destruction suffered by our people in Gaza and the West Bank. His Excellency the Minister emphasized the need to unify Palestinian efforts and deliver a unified message to convey the reality of the suffering to the world through the media and social media. He emphasized that the Palestinian people, with their deep roots, are difficult to defeat.
Major General Barakat, for his part, praised the level of cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Communications, reviewing the achievements of the Customs Department in combating smuggling and increasing revenues through the seizure of smuggled goods. He also highlighted the allocation of an officer from the Department to accompany traffic safety patrols in support of the Ministry's efforts to enhance road safety.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and cooperation, and the integration of roles between official and media institutions, to enhance traffic safety, support the Palestinian cause, and serve the supreme national interest.
