254.5 tons of expired and unfit goods seized during September

Ramallah - October 2, 2025. The Customs Police Department handled 240 cases last September, in cooperation with civil partners and relevant security agencies. This is part of its efforts to protect markets from the spread of spoiled, smuggled, and settlement goods, and to protect the national economy.
The details include:
96 cases, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, aimed at improving state revenues and providing the treasury with funds. These cases are detailed as follows:
- 61 tax and customs cases, including referrals to the Ministry to complete their commercial transactions.
- 8 cases involving goods arriving from Israel without a clearing invoice.
- 27 cases related to smuggled and banned tobacco due to its economic damage and drain on the state treasury.
124 cases were investigated in cooperation with the Ministries of Economy and Health to prevent the spread of spoiled, counterfeit, and settlement goods, and to ensure health security. These cases include:
- Approximately 254.5 tons of expired food, supplies, and cleaning supplies were seized and destroyed.
- Approximately 5 tons of cosmetics, supplies, and pesticides were seized without an identification label and in violation of mandatory regulations. These were handed over to the relevant authorities.
- 2,026 packages and pills were seized, along with approximately 724 kg of banned sexual substances and sexual stimulants, all of which were handed over to the relevant authorities.
- A truck loaded with furniture prohibited from circulation (settlement goods) was seized and impounded pending the completion of legal procedures.
Five cases were investigated in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture:
- Three cases of agricultural products and two cases of animal products were seized without agricultural transport permits, veterinary certificates, and were unfit for consumption or prohibited by a decision of the Minister of Agriculture.
12 cases were investigated in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, during which the following were seized:
- (1,073 Israeli SIM cards, 17 packages, and 19 packages of sexually explicit materials), all of which are prohibited from circulation and were handed over to the relevant authorities.
- Twenty packages, eight mobile devices, and communication equipment were seized without the necessary licenses and were handed over to the relevant authorities.
3 cases were investigated in cooperation with the Environmental Quality Authority, during which the following were seized:
- 18 tons of construction waste coming from Israel, in violation of applicable Palestinian regulations and laws. The waste was returned to its source.
- 28 large boxes of consumable medical supplies arriving from Israel were seized, in violation of applicable Palestinian regulations and laws. The goods were seized and referred to the Public Prosecution by the competent authority. The Customs Police Department calls on citizens to contribute by submitting reports of spoiled and expired goods via the department's toll-free hotline 132 or via the department's official Facebook page.
