Ramallah - October 19, 2025 - The Commander of the Customs Police Force, Major General Iyad Barakat, received the Minister of Interior, Major General Ziad Hab Al-Rih, today, Sunday, at the force's headquarters in Ramallah and Al-Bireh. Barakat briefed him on the force's future plans, workflow, and key achievements since the beginning of the year.
During the meeting, Minister Hab Al-Rih conveyed the greetings of His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) and Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa to the leadership and cadres of the Customs Police Force, appreciating the significant efforts made by the force to protect the national economy. He also commended the patriotic and responsible role of the Customs Police in combating smuggling and tax evasion, emphasizing that the force is a fundamental pillar in supporting the pillars of the national economy, in cooperation with the security establishment and all partner agencies, given its direct impact on strengthening the resilience of the Palestinian citizen and protecting the national economy.
In this context, several directors of central departments and governorates spoke about the progress of work and field achievements. They reviewed future plans to enhance regulatory performance and combat smuggling in all its forms. They also reviewed efforts to ensure the safety and quality of goods in the markets, thus protecting the national economy and safeguarding citizens' economic security.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Hab Al-Reeh affirmed the Ministry of Interior's continued support for the efforts of the Customs Police, praising the discipline of its personnel and their fruitful cooperation with security agencies and the public and private sectors to serve the nation and its citizens.
