The Customs Control Department handled 63 cases last week in cooperation with partner agencies.
The most prominent cases are as follows:
26 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, aimed at improving state revenues and bolstering the treasury. These cases resulted in the seizure of:
- 20 tax and customs violations, with the taxpayers referred to the Ministry to complete their commercial transactions.
- 3 cases involving goods arriving from Israel without proper documentation.
- 3 cases related to smuggled and prohibited tobacco.
28 cases in cooperation with the Ministries of National Economy and Health, aimed at preventing the spread of illegal goods. The most prominent of these cases include:
- The seizure of approximately 3.8 tons of expired and unfit-for-human-consumption food and cosmetic products, which were subsequently destroyed.
- The seizure of 22 tons of food and cleaning products that violated mandatory regulations, which were handed over to the relevant authorities.
5 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, during which the following were seized:
- 8.5 tons of olive oil and 25 calves without agricultural permits, which were handed over to the relevant authorities. In a case handled in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, the following was seized:
- 10 packages lacking the necessary permits were handed over to the relevant authorities.
In three cases handled in cooperation with the Environmental Quality Authority, 64 tons of construction and industrial waste originating from Israel were seized and returned to their source.
The Customs Control Department urges citizens to report smuggled, spoiled, or counterfeit goods, price manipulation, or monopolistic practices by calling the toll-free number 132 or contacting the department through its official Facebook page.
