Ramallah - 8/11/2025 The Customs Police, in cooperation with partner agencies and relevant security bodies, handled 227 cases during October as part of its efforts to protect markets from the spread of counterfeit, smuggled, and settlement goods, and to safeguard the national economy.
In detail:
101 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance to improve state revenues and bolster the treasury. These cases are broken down as follows:
- 80 tax and customs cases, referring taxpayers to the Ministry to complete their commercial transactions.
- 8 cases involving goods arriving from Israel without proper documentation.
- 13 cases related to smuggled tobacco, which is prohibited due to its economic harm and the drain it places on the state treasury. In cooperation with the Ministries of Economy and Health, 103 cases were addressed to prevent the spread of spoiled, counterfeit, and settlement goods, and to ensure public health security. These cases included:
- Seizing and destroying approximately 29 tons of expired food, supplies, and cleaning materials.
- Seizing approximately 29.5 tons of counterfeit goods (cleaning products, personal care items, and pesticides), which were impounded pending completion of the necessary legal procedures.
- Seizing approximately 700 kg of cosmetics, food, and pesticides lacking proper labeling and violating mandatory regulations. These items were handed over to the relevant authorities.
- Seizing approximately 3 tons of food products containing prohibited manufacturing ingredients, which are banned from sale in the market.
- Seizing 229 packages of prohibited and unlicensed cosmetic products, which were handed over to the relevant authorities.
- Seizing 12 wooden doors, which are settlement goods banned from sale in the market. Seven cases were handled in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture:
- Five cases involving agricultural products and two cases involving animal products lacking agricultural transport permits and deemed unfit for consumption.
Twelve cases were handled in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, resulting in the seizure of:
- 204 mobile phones, communication equipment, and 16 packages lacking the necessary licenses.
- 77 packages of goods prohibited from circulation in the Palestinian market were seized and handed over to the relevant authorities.
Four cases were handled in cooperation with the Environmental Quality Authority, resulting in the seizure of:
- 104 tons of construction waste originating from Israel, in violation of agreements and laws, which was returned to its source.
The agency urges citizens to report smuggled, spoiled, or counterfeit goods, price manipulation, or monopolistic practices by calling the toll-free number 132 or contacting the agency through its official Facebook page.
