Major General Iyad Barakat Receives Delegation from the Aluminum and Glass Industries Union

Ramallah, January 21, 2025: Major General Iyad Barakat, Commander of the Customs Police, received a delegation from the Aluminum and Glass Industries Union at his office on Wednesday. The delegation was headed by Ahmed Hassouneh, Economic Advisor and Chairman of the Union's Establishment Committee, and included Dr. Tawfiq Nassar, Abdullah Shweiki, and Hazem Shweiki. Several officers from various departments within the Customs Police were also present.

The meeting focused on ways to enhance cooperation between the Customs Police and the Union. The Union delegation presented an overview of the aluminum and glass industry, highlighting its role as a cornerstone of national industry and its employment of hundreds of skilled workers. They also discussed the major challenges facing both sectors and emphasized the importance of a complementary relationship with the Customs Police and its role in protecting the national economy and local industry. For his part, Major General Barakat welcomed the delegation, expressing his pride in the national industry, which is facing difficult circumstances. He commended the industrialists' efforts and perseverance in developing the industry, keeping pace with scientific and technological advancements, and their commitment to providing high-quality products.

Major General Barakat emphasized that the Customs Authority exists to protect citizens and the national economy, stressing the importance of cooperation with specialized unions, including the Aluminum and Glass Industries Union.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to continue coordination and hold subsequent meetings to overcome obstacles and strengthen partnerships, thereby contributing to the advancement of the national industry.
