Approximately 87 tons of goods unfit for consumption were seized last week in cooperation with partner agencies.
The most prominent cases are as follows:
24 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, aimed at improving state revenues and bolstering the treasury. These cases included:
- 15 tax and customs violations, with the taxpayers referred to the Ministry to complete their commercial transactions.
- 3 cases involving goods arriving from Israel without proper documentation.
- 6 cases related to smuggled and prohibited tobacco.
49 cases in cooperation with the Ministries of National Economy and Health, aimed at preventing the spread of illegal goods. The most prominent of these cases included:
- The seizure of approximately 87 tons of expired and unfit-for-human-consumption goods, which were subsequently destroyed.
- The seizure of over 3 tons of imported cosmetics and honey that violated mandatory regulations, which were handed over to the relevant authorities.
- The seizure of approximately 150 packages and approximately 2 kg of prohibited sexual stimulants, which were also handed over to the relevant authorities. In one case, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, the following was seized:
- 428 kg of fruit (strawberries) without an agricultural transport permit, which was handed over to the relevant authority.
In one case, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, the following was seized:
- 25 mobile devices not registered in the system, which were handed over to the relevant department at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.
In one case, in cooperation with the Environmental Quality Authority, the following was seized:
- 150 scrap tires, which were returned to their source.
The Customs Control Department urges citizens to report smuggled, spoiled, or counterfeit goods, price manipulation, or monopolistic practices by calling the toll-free number 132 or contacting the department through its official Facebook page.
