The Palestinian Customs Police Concludes its Official Visit to Turkey with Joint Training Agreements

 

Ramallah – February 19, 2026: A delegation from the Palestinian Customs Police, appointed by the Director General, Major General Iyad Barakat, concluded its official visit to the Turkish capital, Ankara. The delegation, headed by the Deputy Director General, Brigadier General Nidal Abu Saeed, aimed to strengthen international cooperation and develop the institutional and professional capabilities of the agency.

The delegation was received by His Excellency Dr. Nasri Abu Jaish, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Turkey, in the presence of First Counselor Rana Abu Saiba and First Secretary Jamil Muhanna. Discussions focused on prospects for bilateral cooperation and ways to expand coordination and exchange technical expertise.

The visit included a series of official meetings with representatives of the Turkish Ministry of Trade and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). During these meetings, agreements were reached to implement specialized training programs designed to enhance the efficiency of the agency's personnel and to familiarize them with the latest international technologies and practices in customs inspection, combating smuggling, and strengthening the economic security system. The delegation also conducted field visits to several border crossings and cargo inspection centers, as well as specialized technical laboratories, where they were briefed on the latest mechanisms and systems used to monitor the movement of goods and enhance the efficiency of regulatory procedures in accordance with international standards.

The visit concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding establishing a framework for long-term practical cooperation in the areas of training, capacity building, and the exchange of expertise, contributing to strengthening professional readiness and enhancing the protection of the national economy.
