Ramallah – February 23, 2026 – His Excellency Hussein al-Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine, held an expanded security meeting with the heads of the security services, in the presence of Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Security Forces, Lieutenant General Ismail Jabr.
During the meeting, a comprehensive review was conducted of the latest political, security, and social developments in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in light of regional and international developments, particularly those related to the implementation of the US President's peace plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803, and their potential repercussions on the Palestinian reality in its various dimensions. The attendees also discussed the implications of the current phase and ways to enhance national preparedness, consolidate the rule of law, preserve the dignity of citizens, and strengthen civil peace.
Sheikh briefed the attendees on the most prominent political and economic challenges and the efforts being made to bolster the Palestinian position politically and diplomatically, emphasizing the importance of integrated roles between the political leadership, the security establishment, and the judiciary, in order to ensure the protection of the national project and strengthen the resilience of our people. The meeting also discussed mechanisms for opening a coordination office between the Palestinian National Authority and the Gaza Strip Administration Committee, which would contribute to unifying administrative and political frameworks, enhancing integration in performance, and strengthening the political and legal link between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, thus serving the supreme national interest.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Excellency stressed the need to maintain the highest levels of readiness and discipline, and to bolster public trust in official institutions, emphasizing that security and stability are fundamental pillars in protecting the rights of our people and their national principles.
