Major General Iyad Barakat Receives Mr. Yasser Abbas, Special Representative of President Mahmoud Abbas

 

Ramallah – April 28, 2026 Major General Iyad Barakat, Commander of the Customs Police, received Mr. Yasser Mahmoud Abbas, Special Representative of President Mahmoud Abbas, at the Customs Police headquarters in Ramallah and Al-Bireh on Tuesday. The meeting addressed the latest field developments and ways to improve the work of the Customs Police.

Major General Barakat welcomed Mr. Abbas and reviewed the Customs Police's most significant achievements during the past period, particularly in combating smuggling, protecting the national economy, seizing counterfeit and smuggled goods, and strengthening the economic security system through intensified inspection tours and increased patrols in various governorates.

Mr. Abbas praised the important national role played by the Customs Police and its high level of professionalism, commending its efforts and achievements in protecting citizens and the national economy, and the tangible results it has achieved in enhancing economic security. During the visit, a field tour was organized at the Central Operations Department of the agency, where Mr. Yasser Abbas was briefed on the workflow, field monitoring mechanisms, and the technical and operational procedures in place to ensure the highest levels of readiness in protecting the national economy.

At the conclusion of the visit, Major General Iyad Barakat presented Mr. Yasser Abbas with a commemorative plaque in recognition of his efforts and national role.
