Ramallah – June 2, 2026 – The Customs Police seized a truck carrying approximately 800 kg of medical waste from Israel at a checkpoint in Qalqilya Governorate on Tuesday. The waste was en route to be dumped on Palestinian-owned land within the governorate, posing a threat to the environment and public health.

After consulting with the relevant authorities in the Public Safety Committee, the committee ordered the return of the seized quantity to its source and the completion of all necessary legal procedures.

The Customs Police urges citizens to cooperate and report any attempts to smuggle waste or refuse from Israel into the State of Palestine, in order to protect the environment and public health, and to prevent any harm to citizens and natural resources.
