Ramallah - June 29, 2026 - The Commander of the Customs Police, Major General Iyad Barakat, received the Minister of Interior, Major General Ziad Hab Al-Reeh, at the Customs Police headquarters in Al-Bireh on Monday. The official visit aimed to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two sides.
During the meeting, Major General Barakat welcomed Minister Hab Al-Reeh, emphasizing the importance of the meeting in consolidating law enforcement efforts. He reviewed the Customs Police's duties and recent achievements, highlighting its role in protecting the national economy through an integrated work methodology and partnership with relevant authorities and various security agencies.
The Minister commended the Customs Police's role in combating smuggling and protecting markets from illegal goods, as well as its distinguished role at border crossings. He stressed the need to continue developing the Customs Police and providing the necessary training and logistical resources to enhance its efficiency and strengthen its ability to perform its field duties. In addition, His Excellency the Minister met with the Economic Security Team, where he received a briefing on field operations in combating economic crimes and protecting the Palestinian market. He commended the team's efforts and the level of coordination with relevant authorities, affirming the Ministry's support for enhancing its effectiveness.
His Excellency also toured the central departments to observe operations and received explanations regarding work mechanisms and preparedness.
