Ramallah, June 30, 2026 - Major General Iyad Barakat, Commander of the Customs Police, received Brigadier General Jason Langelier, Head of the Canadian Security Mission, at his office in the Customs Police headquarters in Ramallah on Tuesday. Representatives from the Palestinian Police, the Palestinian National Security Forces, and the Military Training Authority were also present. The meeting marked the handover of the second phase of the body-worn camera project, funded by the Canadian Security Mission.
Major General Barakat expressed his appreciation for the ongoing support provided by the Canadian Security Mission to the Palestinian security establishment. He thanked Brigadier General Langelier and the mission staff for their continuous efforts in supporting and developing the capabilities of the security establishment in general, and the Customs Police in particular, through the implementation of training programs, capacity building for personnel, and the provision of logistical and technical resources that contribute to increased performance efficiency and enhanced professionalism.
Major General Barakat emphasized the importance of the ongoing partnership and cooperation with the Canadian Security Mission, given its role in developing the security work system and strengthening the security establishment's law enforcement capabilities. For his part, Brigadier General Jason Langelier praised the role of the Customs Police in protecting the national economy and enforcing the law, stressing that the Canadian security mission will continue to support programs and projects aimed at developing the capabilities of the Palestinian security services and enhancing joint cooperation.
