Seizure of Suspected Expired Goods in Ramallah

Ramallah, July 1, 2026 – In a joint security operation, the Customs Police and General Intelligence Service, in cooperation with the Ministry of National Economy in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, seized quantities of olive oil, sweets, and candies suspected of being unfit for consumption in a warehouse on Wednesday.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 24,576 liters of olive oil, which was immediately sent for laboratory testing to ensure its safety and compliance with specifications. Materials and equipment suspected of being used for adulteration and forgery were also confiscated, along with approximately 54 tons of sweets and candies whose expiration dates were found to be easily removable and tamper-proof.

Consequently, the participating agencies impounded all the seized goods and filed official reports against the violators. The necessary legal procedures are being initiated pending the completion of the investigation and the results of the laboratory tests. This action is part of ongoing efforts to protect consumers and ensure the quality and safety of products offered in Palestinian markets.
