lgeria _ 18/7/2023 The Commander of the Customs Police Service, Major General Iyad Barakat, discussed with the Director General of Algerian Customs, Noureddine Khaldi, today, Tuesday, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of customs security, especially in the field of training.
This came during a meeting held by Major General Barakat with the Director General of Algerian Customs, today, Tuesday, at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Customs Services in the Algerian capital, as part of an official visit to Algeria that will last for several days.
In press statements after the meeting, Khalidi affirmed his full readiness to support, raise and develop the capabilities of the officers and members of the Palestinian customs police force in addressing the challenges it faces, according to the request.
He added that this will be embodied by "informing the officers of the apparatus about the successful and pioneering experiences of the Algerian customs, which recorded qualitative leaps, especially in the field of training, and the transfer of its expertise in various fields in order to combat economic crime that transcends sea, air and land borders, and eliminate the phenomenon of money laundering and counterfeiting."
He pointed out that this meeting reflects "Algeria's role, firm stance, and loyalty to the Palestinian cause," stressing in this regard "the depth of the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two countries and peoples," as well as the endeavor to perpetuate the strength of these relations in the customs field.
For his part, Major General Barakat appreciated the readiness of the Algerian customs to train individuals and officers in the Palestinian customs police force, and pointed out that "the specializations and areas to be trained in have been identified," reiterating his keenness to benefit from Algerian expertise.
Major General Barakat and the Director General of Algerian Customs exchanged gifts, and, accompanied by members of the Palestinian delegation, visited the Algerian Customs Museum.
