*The Customs Police Department deals with 3,010 cases during the year 2023*

Ramallah - 2/4/2024: - During the past year 2023, the Customs Police Service dealt with (3010) cases in cooperation with the civilian partner agencies and the competent security agencies, in implementation of the instructions of the political level and the directives of the Minister of the Interior and under the supervision of the Commander of the Service, His Excellency Major General Iyad Barakat, during which an arrest was made. (732.6 tons) expired goods that are not fit for human consumption, and other issues that the goal of dealing with is to protect the national economy and improve revenue collection to supplement the treasury, raise the economy, protect the health and safety of citizens, and combat all forms of smuggling. These issues were distributed between financial, economic, health, agricultural, and technological. And environmental.
And in the details:
• _ In cooperation with the Ministry of Finance:-
  In order to improve revenue collection to supplement the state treasury and control tax evasion and customs smuggling operations to protect the state’s capabilities, the agency dealt with (1611) cases, detailed as follows:
- (1478) cases in the file of tax evasion, customs smuggling, and transferring taxpayers to complete their commercial transactions.
-(41) Case for goods coming from Israel without a clearing invoice.
-(92) Cases in the file of tobacco banned from circulation during joint rounds with the Customs, Excise and Intelligence Department.
• In cooperation with the Ministry of National Economy:-
In order to protect markets from the spread of spoiled, expired, counterfeit, and settlement goods, the agency dealt with (879) cases, detailed as follows:
During which (710) tons of expired, unfit for consumption and counterfeit goods were seized.
   - (220.8) tons of goods were seized without a declaration card in Arabic (food supplies and cosmetics)
  - (61.2) tons of settlement goods banned from trading in the local market were seized.
  - Seizing goods prohibited from circulation (7,313 packages of beads and fireworks prohibited from circulation), due to their danger to the lives of citizens.
• In cooperation with the Ministry of Health:-
  In order to provide health security and protect the health of citizens from unfit for consumption and spoiled goods, the agency dealt with (257) cases, the most prominent of which are as follows:
- (22.6) tons of expired/unusable foodstuffs and cosmetics were seized and destroyed according to the rules.
Nearly (2 tons) and (26,240) packages of medicines, cosmetics, nutritional supplements, and sexual stimulants were seized that did not conform to specifications and standards and did not have the necessary licenses.
• In cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture:-
  In order to support the agricultural sector and livestock breeders and enhance the steadfastness of farmers on their land, the agency dealt with (105) cases, which did not have the necessary agricultural and health permits and others that were not fit for human consumption or were restricted by a decision from the Ministry, detailed as follows:
  -(51) Animal products case.
  -(54) Agricultural products case.
• In cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology:-
In order to protect the markets and prevent the spread of SIM cards, recharge cards, and Israeli Internet devices that are prohibited from trading and operating within the territories of the Palestinian state, the agency dealt with (142) cases during which it was seized:
1,941 Israeli communications SIM cards and an Israeli charging card, 1,210 Israeli wireless devices, routers, and cellular communication devices, all of which are in violation of the law and were seized and transferred to the Ministry of Communications.
- (4292) postal parcels and communications devices that did not have the necessary licenses from the Ministry of Communications were seized.
• In cooperation with the Environmental Quality Authority:-
  In order to protect the Palestinian environment from hazardous waste, whether solid or liquid, that is smuggled from Israel; With the aim of burying or dumping them on the territory of the Palestinian state, the agency dealt with (16) cases during which it seized:
- (134.5) tons of construction waste, ordinary waste, solid waste, (15 tons) plastic waste, (1.5 tons) damaged Israeli routers, and (761) used tires, which are goods coming from Israel that are prohibited from being traded in the territories of the Palestinian state and were returned to their source according to the agreement. Basel.
- In the field of awareness and within the agency’s policy of communicating with all segments of society, the Public Relations and Media Department presented approximately (550) lectures, from which approximately (30 thousand people) benefited, aiming to convey the agency’s message and clarify its most prominent tasks in serving the community.
