Ramallah - 5/22/2024 The Commander of the Customs Police Service, Major General Iyad Barakat, met today, Wednesday, with Mr. Ziad Al-Jebrini, Secretary of the Palestinian Food and Agricultural Industries Union, and Mr. Bassam Abu Ghalioun, Director General of the Union, at the agency’s headquarters in Ramallah.
During the meeting, joint cooperation between the agency and the union was discussed with the aim of achieving food security for the Palestinian people, by providing Palestinian food products in accordance with food safety conditions and quality standards. This comes with the support of the Customs Control Service to promote the Palestinian food product and protect the market from smuggling operations and marketing of products that do not meet standards, which causes unfair competition for the local product.
Major General Iyad Barakat stressed the agency’s readiness to cooperate at all levels in order to promote Palestinian food products in the local market. For his part, Mr. Ziad Al-Jebrini and Mr. Bassam Abu Ghalioun stressed the importance of enhancing joint cooperation and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of work that is in the interest of citizens.
